Chemical bond nature of ZnMgO (ZMO) buffer grown on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) absorber by pulsed laser deposition, and band alignment of the ZMO/CIGS interface have been investigated by means of in-situ PES/IPES. A large interface induced band bending and an adequately positive condition band offset are realized by controlling deposition condition of ZMO which reduces impurity-level in the ZMO layer. The results ensure that ZMO is one of the promising buffer materials for the CIGS-based solar cells.
