We have developed "tripodal triptycene" as a "Spramolecular scafforld" that enables formation of highly ordered large-area 2D self-assembly sheet on a macroscopic scale. In this presentation, we will discuss the self-assembly behavior of the tripodal triptycenes and their application, such as the improvement of the performance of organic thin-film transistors, the highly ordered 2D self-assembly of molecular functional groups such as C60 and amorphous polymers, and the development of new molecular tripods with three anchoring groups that ebnable the formation of highly uniform and densely packed self-assembled monolayers with controlled molecular orientation.
