A previous study has reported that PEDOT:PSS wire with asymmetric diameters between anode and cathode can work as two-terminal synaptic device. Although this PEDOT wire exhibits synaptic device functionality in any electrolyte solutions, the effect of electrolyte ions on performance as synaptic device and the mechanism of conductance change are not fully understood. In this study, we discuss the mechanism from the viewpoint of size and reactivity of electrolyte ions.
