We present a novel design to realize the dispersion turning point (DTP) of the long-period grating (LPG) for coupling between TE00 and TE10 modes of an asymmetric rib waveguide. We have simulated the phase-matching curves of LPG for symmetric and asymmetric rib waveguide structures for wavelength range 1.2-1.8 µm. We observe that the DTP doesn’t exist for symmetric rib waveguide structure, but for the asymmetric rib waveguide structure, phase matching curves show the existence of DTP near 1.5 µm wavelength. This study can help model devices near DTP in asymmetric rib waveguide structures.
