“Thermal energy storage” or “heat storage” has been rapidly gaining interest as a technology for recovering and reusing low-grade waste heat. The heat storage technology can be realized by freezing a high-entropy state of heat-storage materials, and initiating a reaction by pulling a certain trigger at the required place and time so as to reuse the stored thermal energy as heat. In this presentation, it will be introduced that layered manganese dioxide shows excellent heat storage properties via an water intercalation mechanism.
