Hyperspectral cameras (HSCs), which acquire multi-wavelength images of an object (mainly 10 or more wavelengths), can identify richer color information than RGB cameras and are expected to expand applications and improve accuracy in image analysis and recognition. However, the sensitivity and frame rate of existing HSCs are in principle low, which limit their use and convenience. We proposed a sensing method that efficiently compresses spectral information using random filters and realized an HSC capable of capturing moving images with sensitivity equivalent to an RGB camera.
