In recent years, the development of devices using 3D printers has been attracting attention for its low cost and high versatility. Not only does this allow for flexible development of devices that match each research objective, but inexpensive devices also allow for more research to be conducted, which is expected to lead to the development of various research fields.
In this study, we have developed a polarization microscope that enables both transmission and reflection imaging using a 3D printer. The resolution of the polarizer is 0.5 degrees, and the sample has a vertical (X-axis) stage to adjust the focus. The system does not require any alignment or position adjustment when placing the optical components, making it easy for even beginners to set up and configure the system. This device is a development of the device which was presented by our group at the previous Spring Meeting 2023. At the conference, we would like to discuss the development of this device and the points to be improved.
