Bi2223 has a high Tc of about 110 K and has already been used in a wide range of applications such as power cables and superconducting magnets as silver-sheathed multi-core long wires. 15% Pb doping to Bi sites is considered essential for the phase formation of Bi2223, which is close to a single phase. The change in physical properties of c-axis oriented sintered compacts when the amount of Pb doping is systematically varied has not been investigated. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the essential Pb-doping effect on the grain boundary of Bi2223 polycrystals through the preparation and characterization of highly Pb-doped Bi2223 sintered compacts.
