Semiconductor Optical Amplifier,holding beam,900nm-Band

Lasers with a wavelength in the 900nm-Band are used in light sensing technologies such as LiDAR and ToF systems. The pulse output of 900nm-Band semiconductor lasers can be increased using an SOA. However, the generation of ASE by the SOA becomes a challenge due to the decrease in pulse contrast. To suppress this ASE, continuous wave (CW) light is oscillated and used as a holding beam. In this presentation, we report that injecting CW as a holding beam into the SOA not only suppresses ASE but also confirms an increase in the peak output of pulse.
