Optical waveguides can be written in transparent materials such as crystal by an ultrashort pulse laser (USPL) irradiation, but how the optical waveguides are formed has not been fully clarified. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the optical waveguide formation mechanism by direct observation of the optical waveguide writing process, and clarify the relationship between the processing phenomena from the microscopic viewpoint and the performance of the optical waveguide from the macroscopic viewpoint.
