Because the chirality of gaseous components can vary in odor and potency, it is important to identify them. However, no method exists to rapidly identify the chirality of trace gas components. In this study, I developed a gas sensor that can detect chiral gas molecules using chiral inorganic materials. When a chiral inorganic crystal without inversion and mirror symmetry was combined with a SnO2 gas sensor, differences in sensor sensitivity were observed depending on the chirality of the gas molecules, and chiral gases were successfully identified.
