Anisotropic inorganic nanomaterials such as nanorods and nanotubes have attracted much attention due to their unique anisotropic properties. The alignment control of the anisotropic nanomaterials is essential to develop functional materials utilizing their properties. We previously reported the alignment behavior of ZnO nanorods grafted with liquid-crystalline polymers having molecular alignment ability. In this study, we synthesized liquid-crystalline polymer-grafted ZnO nanorods and revealed the unidirectional alignment behavior by applying shear stress.
