Monolayers and hetero-multilayered films of conjugated donor polymers (poly(9,9’-octylfluorene), PFO) and acceptor polymers (Poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-alt-benzothiadiazole), F8BT) were prepared by the co-spread method with liquid crystal molecules on the water surface. The molecular orientation of the hetero-multilayered films was evaluated by polarized UV–vis absorption spectroscopy measurements. The hetero-multilayered films exhibited fluorescence due to Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from PFO to F8BT. The FRET efficiency depended on the azimuthal orientation angle and intermolecular distance of the donor and acceptor polymers.
