To achieve bacterial test for bloodstream infection within one hour, we are developing gene-based testing system using microfluidic device. Here, we report a device that integrates three steps of the testing flow: DNA amplification, DNA single-stranding, and DNA detection. We selected a method for each step of the flow and developed an integrated microfluidic device. We tested detection of 100 copies bacterial DNA assuming blood sample from patients with bloodstream infection. As a result, we achieved detection of the targeted bacterial DNA in about 14 minutes.
