We have developed a chip-based genetic testing system to achieve rapid and highly-sensitive infectious disease tests in clinics. In this presentation, we report how to speed up gene amplification (PCR.) We achieved fast PCR by quick shuttling of the sample solution between two temperature regions (DNA denature zone and annealing/extension zone.) We found optimal conditions under which the targeted amplicon can be amplified efficiently while non-specific amplification is suppressed. Our system confirmed that the targeted gene could be successfully detected within five minutes.
