For visualization of pharmacokinetics, we have proposed a method of neutron activation of Pt atoms in the cisplatin [Pt(NH3)2Cl2], which is an anticancer drug, and imaging with gamma rays. However, when cisplatin is irradiated with neutrons, not only Pt atoms but also Cl atoms are activated. The activated Cl atoms emit high-energy gamma rays and are likely to break chemical bonds in the molecule. In this presentation, we will talk about the suppression of the activation of Cl atoms in cisplatin by using a Cd/Gd filter.
