The enhancement in terms of the performance and the stabilities of the tin-lead (SnPb) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) were achieved via addition of a dopant material and interfacial engineering. It is well known that the stability of the SnPb PSCs is governed by the presence of the Sn. The easily oxidized Sn component in the SnPb perovskites, especially in high humidity and high ambient temperature makes the SnPb PSCs not reliable and are at disadvantage when competing with other forms of solar cells. However, there are also other factor such as the ions migration which has proven to be harmful in the PSCs. By implementing the above strategies, the highest efficiency of more than 21% along with high photo and thermal stabilities were demonstrated. Our exploratory of the successful treatment of the doping and interlayer engineering were followed with series of investigations which includes the morphological, structural and elemental of the SnPb thin films before and after exposure to thermal heating via SEM, XRD and XPS. We will also demonstrate the effects of doping and interlayer engineering via impedance spectroscopy technique by extracting the electronic parameters in the SnPb PSCs such as the series and recombination resistances, and also the capacitance of the investigated devices which could help to interpret the ionic activities. Our research concludes that the most important factor that prevent the degradation in the SnPb PSCs underlies in the physical barrier that can restrict the ions migration. This valuable knowledge could help us in the fabrication of the SnPb PSCs with high efficiency and excellent performance stabilities.
