The production of hydrogen gas from clean energy is a promising solution to climate change. The photovoltaic effect of ferroelectrics is expected to be one of the new methods of H2 generation because it can generate an electromotive force larger than the bandgap. BiFeO3 thin films have attracted attention because they exhibit large photovoltaic effect but are known to be challenging to obtain insulating properties. In this study, we investigate the relationship between the dielectric properties and the photovoltaic effect of epitaxially grown (100) BiFeO3 thin films on Si substrates using the combinatorial sputtering method.
