Gold was vacuum-deposited on the surfaces of spin-coated thin films of monodisperse polystyrenes with different molecular weights after storage for 5 months in a desiccator. The projected area distributions of the grown gold particles were measured and compared with the previous results for the samples gold-deposited right after spin casting. The growth rates for the latter samples depended on the molecular weight and were slower than those on the amorphous carbon films, whereas the rates for the present samples were revealed to show neither molecular-weight dependence nor difference from those on the amorphous carbon films.
