We report simulations of the excitation of finite-sized, but sufficiently large photonic crystal (PhC) slabs with absorption loss and structural anisotropy for detecting the non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE). When the frequency of excitation is low enough compared to that of the first bulk band edge of our PhC, the steady state clearly indicates the NHSE.
