Magnetochiral (MCh) effects known as directional birefringence (dichroism) for unpolarized electromagnetic waves are induced in a system with magnetism and chirality. MCh effects are characterized by the unidirectional dichroism of a material. Due to Kirchhoff’s law of thermal radiation, the absorption of a material is equal to the emittance of the material, indicating that the MCh effects are also characterized by unidirectional emission.
In this presentation, we show unidirectional microwave radiation from a MCh metamolecule and discuss the physics behind the nonreciprocal wave radiation in detail.
