When a microwave frequency f is applied to a Josephson junction, Shapiro steps of an integral multiple of the voltage V=πh/2ef appear due to the AC Josephson effect. It has been reported that fractional Shapiro steps such as 1/2 and 1/3 appear in 2D Josephson junction arrays when an external magnetic field is applied. However, since a fractional Shapiro step is observed even in a single Josephson junction, the cause was investigated by numerical calculation and compared with experimental results.
