The two-temperature model (TTM) is a fundamental model describing the non-equilibrium dynamics after laser excitation. In a recent study, we have treated the TTM as an eigenvalue problem and have revealed universal properties which is independent of the choice of material parameters, such as the temperature inversion where the lattice temperature exceeds the electron temperature for more than nanoseconds. In this talk, we systematically investigate the dependence of the effective thermal diffusion coefficient on the excitation beam diameter. We try to understand it from the viewpoint of mode eigenvalues. The influence of nonlinearity is also discussed.
