To clarify the main determinants of the characteristics of hydrogen peroxide generation, we investigated one of the underwater plasmas, diaphragm discharge plasma. Optical emission spectroscopy shows us that, at the condition with better generation performance of hydrogen peroxide, the electron density is 6×1022 m3 at maximum, which is about three times higher than the value at the other condition, and the high density is maintained for a longer duration. We also found that the reaction rate of water molecule dissociation, which is calculated using the obtained plasma parameters, is higher for thermal reaction than for electron collision.
