The 3D-ordered assembly of ferroelectric nanocubes such as BaTiO3 has been reported to exhibit enhanced dielectric properties arising from strained interfaces of nanocubes. Owing to the similarity in the crystal structure and electrical properties, the KNbO3-nanocube assembly is expected to exhibit enhanced dielectric and ferroelectric properties. However, the synthesis of dispersible and size-controlled KNbO3 nanocubes for ordered assembly has rarely been reported. Therefore, this study was focused on the surfactant-free solvothermal synthesis of dispersible and size-controlled KNbO3 nanocubes from K4Nb6O17 precursors as the facile conversion into KNbO3 from K4Nb6O17 can be expected through a relatively minor rearrangement of NbO6 units.
