Modified molecules in biomolecules are deeply involved in biological phenomena, and their detection methods are becoming increasingly important. We have been working on single-molecule detection of chemical modifications of nucleobases and amino acid molecules using nanogap electrode devices. In this study, we focused on the chemical modification of RNA and investigated the possibility of distinguishing it from molecules without chemical modification. As a result, we succeeded in identifying biomolecules including methylation and hydroxymethylation.
