We have presented a heat-resistant, flexible piezoelectric sheet sensor based on solution-processed zinc oxide film for in-vehicle driver monitoring applications. Here, we report that when the fabricated sheet sensors are attached to a chair, they are sufficiently sensitive to detect the body movements and countermovements of a seated subject in a laboratory setting. Future perspectives on driver monitoring systems in smart vehicles are also discussed.
