Artificial photosynthesis is an important future technology, but there is much to learn from photosynthetic organisms in order to artificially reproduce the elements of (1) light reaction, (2) atmospheric CO2 enrichment, and (3) dark reaction (carbon fixation). In this talk, we would like to discuss our attempts to reconfigure novel photosynthetic organisms through an on-going Japan-France joint program and the reported attempts for improving the efficiency of photosynthesis by artificial methods in a system that retains the function and structure of the organism (semi-artificial photosynthetic model), and also the possibility of micro-bio-robotics driven by photosynthesis.
