Optical reservoir computing is one of the methods that excel at processing time series data. Since only the weights of the output layer are optimized, it is computationally inexpensive and can process information at high speed. Approximate computing also allows for a certain amount of error in computation to achieve higher speed and lower power consumption. The purpose of this study is to propose a new approximate reservoir computing by numerically quantizing the outputs and weights of optical reservoir computing.
