A metrological traceability and an uncertainty of measurement are indispensable to assure reliability of measurement results. Additionally, in a field of analytical instrumentation, it is important to assess whether an object is detectable. ISO 11929 defines the decision threshold, measurement limit, and limits of coverage interval as the characteristic limits that indicate capabilities of radiation measurement. We will introduce their concepts and an example of their application to radioactivity measurement.
