In nanophotonics, modes that are above the light line but confined within the structure are called Bound states In Continuum (BIC). Off-Γ BIC can propagate within the slab because it appears at non-symetric wave number point. This can be used to create filter waveguides that transmit only light of a specific frequency. This study reports observation of in-plane propagation at BIC, which has not been paid much attention, and is expected to lead to new applications of propagating at BIC.
