Magnetic sensors used for biomagnetic measurements include nitrogen-vacancy centers (NVCs) in diamond and scalar-mode optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs). These two magnetic sensors have many similarities, such as a wide dynamic range and calculation of magnetic fields in the frequency domain. In this presentation, we will clarify the characteristics of NVCs and scalar-mode OPMs theoretically and experimentally, and compare their effectiveness for biomagnetic measurements.
