Protein adsorption on the surface of biomaterials such as implants, which is closely related to their biocompatibility, is known to be altered by atmospheric pressure plasma treatment, but the mechanism of this change remains unclear. Therefore, we conducted protein adsorption experiments focusing on the relationship between the electric charge provided by the plasma and the protein adsorption properties. The results showed that the amount of adsorption decreased with plasma irradiation, and that the amount of adsorption was greater for positive polarity plasma than for negative polarity plasma.
