We have developed a metamaterial (MA) thermoelectric conversion device driven under the uniform thermal radiation environment. MAs, which is attached to one end of the thermoelectric conversion element, absorb thermal radiation and generate heat, and form a temperature gradient even in a uniform thermal radiation environment, thus enabling thermoelectric power generation. In this presentation, MAs are compared with carbon black, which is a typical absorber. As a result, we confirmed that the thermoelectric properties in a uniform thermal radiation environment depend not only on the absorptivity of the electrode but also on the thinness of the absorber which required to conduct the heat to the thermoelectric conversion device.
