We demonstrate a surface-engineered, uncooled, 1060nm single-mode, coupled-cavity VCSEL with 50Gb/s NRZ transmission up to 2km at 85C with equalization under FEC limit for the first time. Thanks to the single transverse mode control in oxide aperture as large as 7.0 micrometers and high differential gain from In0.28Ga0.72As quantum wells in metal-aperture, shallow surface relief structure based VCSEL that pushed modulation bandwidths >26GHz back-to-back and >30GHz under 2km SMF transmission at 25C. Temperature dependent optical spectra show SMSR >40dB, and S21 response with -3dB bandwidth >30GHz after 2km SMF transmission at 55C.
