A fluorescent organic EL device using diphenyl-naphthyldiamine (α-NPD) in the light-emitting layer exhibits high color purity blue light emission (chromaticity: 0.15, 0.08) with an emission peak wavelength of around 440 nm and a half width of 40 nm or less. In addition, a relatively high luminous efficiency is obtained, and the layer design of the device structure that affects the carrier injection characteristics has been investigated in detail. In this study, optical properties such as excitation, luminescence, and light extraction processes were measured and evaluated, and the effects on external quantum efficiency were discussed.
