To evaluate the radiation environment during manned lunar exploration, we are developing a compact ring imaging Cherenkov spectrometer (Lunar-RICheS). It accurately measures the energy of protons at 250 MeV-2 GeV, which are especially harmful to a human body. We conducted a proton irradiation test at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) to evaluate the performance of it for high-energy protons and confirmed that background removal by imaging improves its resolution. In this presentation, we report the performance evaluation of the detector at J-PARC.
