A guided mode resonance (GMR) filter is a narrowband filter consisting of a sub-wavelength grating integrated in a waveguide on a transparent substrate. In this study, two-dimensional and doubly-periodic grating are considered to form a narrowband flat-top shape in the GMR transmission spectrum. A narrowband flat-top bandpass filter with full width at half maximum of 8.2 nm was designed and confirmed by using the rigorous coupled-wave analysis.
