We have been developing high-performance EDF laser sensors using cascaded chirped long-period optical fiber gratings (C-CLPGs) as wavelength selective and sensor elements. In this study, we proposed a novel polarization-maintaining-EDFA based EDF sigma laser (PM-EDFσL) to realize a high-precision laser sensor with more stable oscillation output and investigated its application to intensity-modulated sensing by utilizing the stabilized oscillation power.
