We have realized a metamaterial (MA) thermoelectric conversion mechanism that generates thermoelectric power in a uniform temperature environment. When an MA is attached to one end of a thermoelectric conversion element, the MA absorbs ambient thermal radiation and converts it into localized heat. The localized heat is conducted and propagated to the thermoelectric conversion element and carried out of the space as electrical energy through the circuit. In this report, we experimentally verified the feasibility of this cooling mechanism.
