Quantum computers are expected to solve problems more efficiently than classical computers in various fields such as materials calculations, finance, and manufacturing. Quantum algorithms require initial states with appropriately encoded, but encoding arbitrary states incurs exponential costs. This study proposes a technique to efficiently encode arbitrary linear combinations of localized functions. It is particularly promising for quantum chemistry calculations in real space, and we also present execution results on IBM's quantum computer.
