In polymer electrolyte membranes used in polymer electrolyte fuel cells, strong acid groups such as sulfo groups contribute to proton conduction. In this study, to clarify the relationship between the electronic state of the sulfo group and water content, the electronic state of sulfur in the polymer electrolyte membrane was analyzed using ambient-controlled tender X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
