Okayama University of Science has declared itself to be a "human resource development center that focuses on student growth" and is working on various educational reforms. In particularly, our university has positioned liberal arts education as "education for human development" and is developing a new type of education. The subject "Introduction to natural sciences" discussed in this paper is a course designed to reaffirm the significance of learning, to stimulate curiosity and inquisitiveness, and to experience the joy of knowing, thereby providing a solid first step toward university study. This paper introduces the content of the physics part of the course "Introduction to natural sciences" and evaluates the educational outcomes based on the results of a questionnaire survey of 358 students over three years and a text-mining analysis of the reports.
