Programmable photonic unitary circuits, which can execute matrix multiplication on optical domain, have gathered much atention due to their potential for ultrafast and energy efficient computing beyond their electric counter part. One remarkable use-case of photonic processor is signal processor for optical communication to reduce the load of the digital electrical hardware. Here, we show the high fidelity photonic unitary circuits and its application to space-division-multiplexed long-haul fiber transmission. We could achieve 1331-km three-mode transmission with reducing the equalizer length in the DSP by 60%.
