Charge transport properties of single-molecule junctions with a σ-delocalized system of six selenium atoms arranged in a ring on a benzene ring were investigated using the break junction method. Electrical and thermoelectric measurements revealed that the molecular junctions with the σ-delocalized system exhibits efficient charge transport properties with conductances of 10-2 G0 (G0 = 77.5 µS is the quantized unit of electronic conductivity) and a relatively larger thermopower of about 50 µV K-1 compared to those of molecules with the conventional π-delocalized systems.
