Femtosecond laser was irradiated along lines on the surface of copper single crystals deformed in tension. Laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSSs) were studied. In all samples, i.e., the non-deformed sample, the sample deformed along a <110> direction and the sample deformed along a <111> direction, LIPSSs having a wavelength of 480nm were formed perpendicularly to the laser-irradiated lines. The formation rate of LIPSSs. i.e., the total length of LIPSSs in a laser-irradiated line, was higher in the sample with higher work hardening.
