Conventional quartz fibers have a transmission wavelength range of 0.3µm to 2.0µm, whereas fluoride fibers can transmit light up to 5µm, making it possible to use a portion of mid-infrared light, which is called the molecular fingerprint region, for measurement. In this study, we develop a method to form micro channels on the surface of fluoride fibers and clarify the design conditions for spectroscopic measurements. In order to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed technology, measurement experiments using fabricated sensor samples will be conducted.
