Vacancy defects in the boron site of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) were shown in 2020 to function as quantum sensors. This quantum sensor functions even when the hBN film thickness is less than 100 nm. We demonstrated a proof-of-principle technique to control this quantum sensor's spot size and location using helium ion microscopy. In this presentation, after a short summary of the quantum sensing research, we will discuss our results, including high-resolution magnetic field imaging using arrays of these quantum sensor spots and ion irradiation condition dependence of sensor properties.
