36Cl is one of the most difficult radionuclides to measure due to contamination with the interfering isobaric 36S. To separate and discriminate the 36S, a method to reduce the 36S contained in the beam itself from the Cs sputtering negative ion source and a method to separate and discriminate the spectrum of 36S incident on the detector were studied. We attempted to suppress the contamination of 36S by covering the surface of the Al wheel disk with a 0.50 mm thick Ta plate. As the result, the contribution of 36S was reduced by about a factor of 50. In this presentation, we will report on the progress of AMS detection techniques for 36Cl with the 6 MV tandem accelerator.
