We have studied the use of caffeic acid (CfA), which plants bio-synthesize, as an electrode modifier layer in organic devices. It was reported that CfA molecules form a dipole layer on the electrode surface, which was supported by Kelvin probe (KP) in air, and reported the amplification of the injected current from the electrode. Once again, we investigated the CfA/electrode interface by UHV KP and found that a giant surface potential is generated after the formation of the dipole layer.
